(Version 1.1 update: The files now say "LUIGI GAME")
This patch swaps Mario and Luigi’s positions in the game; making Mario the second player and Luigi the first player. No gimmicks whatsoever, the same gameplay of the vanilla game except with different characters.
This hack swaps the character palettes, (most) of the in-game text, and changes the title screen to say “Super Luigi World.”
Known bugs:
- Since Overworld Green Yoshi shares a palette with Luigi and Overworld Red Yoshi shares a palette with Mario, their colors are flipped. Meaning, you will ride a red Yoshi in the overworld if you have a green one, and you will ride a green Yoshi in the overworld if you have a red one. This does not affect the appearance of Yoshis in levels, only in the overworld.
- When you press the red switch in the overworld, the blocks that fly out during the animation are green, likewise, pressing the green switch will expel red blocks. This is due to Mario and Luigi's palettes being shared again. However, this doesn't affect the graphics outside the overworld either.
- Princess Peach still calls the player Mario when you defeat Bowser since this text cannot be edited yet.
- The hud screen in the overworld doesn't blend with the skin tones of Luigi or Mario because it expects Mario to be the first player and Luigi the second, not vice versa. This causes a border of skin color to be displayed around the character in the hud. Unfortunately, the hud cannot be edited yet.
However, 99% of the game can be played while completely ignoring these minor bugs.
Enjoy!
