Pokémon Emerald Version: Pokemon Emerald: Complete National Dex Edition Gameboy Advance

This is a further modified version of http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/1947/ (please note that this is a standalone patch. Use a clean ROM for this hack) intended to enable the entire Pokemon roster of Emerald's generation. The priority is given to expansion over difficulty, resulting in a curve that is the same as Emerald in most parts, perhaps a little more difficult in some parts due to shifting trainers' Pokemon and movesets around.

A list of further improvements:
-All 386 Pokemon are obtainable. A location list is included in the download.
-When you receive your Pokedex, it is automatically the National Dex. No separate upgrading events required at all!
-Every trainer has been altered in some way.
-Additional optional patches that enable the previous generations' starters.

Two versions are included: a "light" edition which has the same trainer battles as vanilla Emerald (except for your rival's starter for the sake of consistency), and the full patch which contains all modifications.

Of course, if you'd rather have the edited evolutions be done by new evolution stones, check out http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/2855/

Readme for Pokemon Emerald Hoenn and National Dex Editions. I do not own Pokemon Emerald, Game Freak does. This hack is completely unofficial.

There's a much more detailed FAQ about details, so this is going to only touch the gist of what I did to this hack.

First thing's first, the basics:
-Almost the entire script has been decapitalized, outside of a few scant exceptions in the FAQ which I thought looked better otherwise. As far as I know this is only Emerald hack in existence to do such a thing; decap bases exist but they're incomplete.

-Bugfixes used: PRNG fix (which basically means you can't exploit the RNG in Pokemon Wilds anymore) and the Pomeg Berry fix (this would cause HP to hit an underflow if a Pomeg was used on a 1-HP Pokemon not named Shedinja). There is also a fix for an erroneous early battle with May that would feature a Torkoal if you?re using a wrong dump (the battle was re-pointed to free space in the ROM, meaning this won?t effect you at all if it doesn?t pertain to you).

-Ferry Events are completely doable without hacking, including the Mew one Game Freak never got around to giving tickets outside of Japan for. You don't need to jump through any hoops for these, as I replaced some less-than-important item balls in fitting places (places already deemed as hidden bonuses on the map) for these. All you need to do is pick them up and everything's done for you, flags and all. Then when it?s time for them to be triggered, when you go to the ferry the sailor will notice your tickets as if you went through Mystery Gift.

-Pokemon sprites were replaced all over with improved ones, including animation frames. Some animation actions were changed to fit them a little better. These all come from the Sugimori Palettes set, so Unown, Spinda, and Deoxys are unaffected. Unown uses the same sprite all the way until the games went to full 3D, and the other two are due to how the sprites for them work.

-Because even though I enjoy green I feel there is too much of it in Emerald, some green UI elements have been turned back to their original colors. A little blue or yellow never hurt anyone.

-You can now run indoors like in later games.

-The box system will no longer cycle through only a couple of wallpapers when you first use it. Every box now looks different, meaning you can tell the difference between them easier.

-Pokemon in the Hoenn Dex, yet unavailable in Emerald, were put back into the game in the first area you would find them in other versions. Feebas can be caught by normally fishing in Route 114 with a Good Rod, though the original catching method itself has been left unharmed (this is also true for National Dex).

-The trade at the Battle Frontier that was originally for a Meowth now gives you a Jirachi, with a suitable pokemon being asked for. You can still grab Meowth at the Safari Zone in postgame, don't worry (National Dex has Meowth way earlier).

-Speaking of the Battle Frontier, the Mart has been altered: The original PokeMart now sells every TM and a new clerk sells stones and all berries. This is a QoL improvement mostly for the sake of the Frontier, but it has also been balanced in that almost all prices of these have been raised.

-Trade Evolutions and Feebas's have been edited. Here's a list:
Machoke, Graveler, and Kadabra evolve by happiness.
Scyther evolves at level 26.
Haunter evolves by happiness in the nighttime.
Feebas evolves by happiness in the daytime.
Onix evolves at level 45.
Poliwhirl evolves to Politoed at level 35.
Porygon evolves at level 24.
Slowpoke (to Slowking) and Seadra evolve with Water Stone.
Clamperl evolves via Happiness; Huntail at night and Gorebyss at day.

-There is a whole ton of optional patches included, and the FAQ explains every single one of them.

There are three stages of this hack. This readme is for all three, so the above pertains to Hoenn Dex the most (though these features are in all three). For those of you who don't know, here is where you'll find each of them:

-Hoenn Dex, only pertains to getting the complete in-game Pokedex along with the postgame mons: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/1947/

-National Dex Light and Full, which focus on having the entirety of Generation 3's 386 roster: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/1991/

Here's what you'll find in National Dex, if you are playing Hoenn Dex you can skip this:
-The priority is given to expansion over difficulty, resulting in a curve that is the same as Emerald in most parts, perhaps a little more difficult in some parts due to shifting trainers? Pokemon and movesets around in full. Beginning of the game limitations still exist (except for putting Electric-types and Nidorans before Roxanne). The idea here is that you're given alternatives to your already existing arsenal.

-You do get the National Dex, but you won't be told about it. The process is completely seamless with no extra upgrade event, meaning you're just given the National Dex at the start of the game.

-For those of you who want to play with the original trainers, Light uses the original Emerald trainers and nothing more. The only difference is optional patches used. This is the only difference between the two kinds.

-The optional patches have two more additions for those of you who'd rather play with a starter from Kanto or Johto. This also changes your rival's team.

If you have any more questions consult the FAQ (or location list in National Dex if applicable). Not much else for me to say but to have fun!
